Talent can come from anywhere, and thrive anywhere. That's why we don’t limit our recruitment to people who are interested in accountancy - and we don’t restrict anyone to a defined career path.
You don’t need a degree in a financial subject to start your career with us – we run apprenticeships in IT and finance as well as accountancy. We’re looking for people with a strong academic track record, enthusiasm and transferable skills.
From there, we’ll support your ambitions whatever they are. Many employees have joined us in business support roles, and gone on to qualify as accountants.
Our structure and ethos makes Goodman Jones a great place to develop your career. Whether you’re in one of the client-facing teams or your expertise lies in helping shape our own business, this is a culture where you can make your mark. We understand the value of bringing diversity of perspective and value all ideas and initiatives.
For those in client facing roles, you will have a great level of client interaction. We believe in the value of relationships and think its important that you have that autonomy at manager level. You will be involved with a breadth of clients and industries. They are interesting clients too, have a look at some of the client stories.
Like many professional services firms, Goodman Jones is a partnership. And the success of any partnership depends on the leadership of its partners.
Our partners bring many different skillsets, perspectives and backgrounds to the company. Some are specialists in certain areas, others bring a broader, advisory overview. Their roles span IT, HR, innovation and marketing, in addition to accountancy and audit. Many are homegrown, having trained with us, while others have joined from large practices or boutique firms.
That said, there’s one thing they all have in common: a strong desire to make a difference for our clients and to help our people thrive.

Goodman Jones has lived up to its commitment to staff wellbeing and growth, by allowing me and my colleagues to attend Mental Health First Aid training.
Investing in mental health education not only creates a supportive working environment. It also gives people the tools to make a positive difference in others’ lives.
The training helped me develop a deeper understanding of mental health issues. That should enable me to recognise when someone may be experiencing mental health challenges, and to respond accordingly."

The Mental Health First Aid training made for an eye-opening and thought-provoking couple of days. Education is a vital to understanding mental health issues, so thank you for giving more of us the chance to train, and to enhance the firm’s ability to provide support.”

I never thought I would make a partner in such a short space of time. I joined Goodman Jones in 2014 as a qualified ACA Senior and was made Partner in 2023. It goes to show that the environment and culture at Goodman Jones allows you to learn and grow at your own pace. I'm super excited to help shape the firm as we grow even more.

After passing my finals and qualifying in December 2018, I joined Goodman Jones as a Supervisor in September 2019. During my 5 years at GJ, I have progressed to Senior Manager and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I have been involved with recruiting the new CFAB and ACA intakes, seniors and supervisors and have not had to lie once about what it is like to work here. I will be going on MAT leave in October but look forward to coming back and seeing you all in a brand-new office! Many thanks to everyone who has contributed to making this a supportive and happy environment to work in. Here’s to another 5 years!
