The Charity Audit team at Goodman Jones is continuing to grow, and this is a brand-new role focused 100% on charity clients, working closely with our dedicated Charity Managers.
You’ll gain hands-on experience, take on real responsibility, and work on charity audits and Independent Examinations, all while developing technical expertise.
You’ll also gain exposure to more complex charities with trading subsidiaries and UK-registered charities with international interests.
Leading smaller charity audits – Taking ownership from planning to completion, working directly with managers and partners.
Building technical expertise – Working across different charities, including grant-funded organisations, membership bodies, and social enterprises.
Getting hands-on experience – Conducting detailed audit testing, assessing financial risk, and working with CaseWare and Data Snipper.
Client interaction – Acting as a key point of contact, answering queries, and managing expectations with finance teams and trustees.
Supporting junior staff – Reviewing work, providing feedback, and mentoring audit assistants.
Statutory accounts preparation – Ensuring compliance with UK GAAP, Charities SORP, and FRS 102.
Corporate tax computations – Assisting with tax compliance for charity clients.

This role is perfect for someone already working in audit within a practice environment, but looking for better progression, more variety, and a stronger work-life balance.
Working towards ACA qualification (ideally Certificate Level completed, progressing toward Professional Level).
At least 1 year of audit experience in a UK practice.
Charity sector experience – Your experience working on charity audits has piqued your interest, and you’re ready to make a bigger impact.
Tech-savvy – Comfortable with audit software like CaseWare, Data Snipper, and CCH, plus accounting platforms like Xero and QuickBooks.
Strong communicator – Able to build relationships with clients and colleagues.
Organised & detail-focused – Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Bonus Points If You Have…
Experience working with charities with international interests or trading subsidiaries.
Exposure to Independent Examinations.
Familiarity with grants, VAT issues, or governance reporting in charities.
Salary: £33,000 – £36,000 (based on experience & exam progress).
