Audit Manager - Mixed Portfolio (Commercial & Charities)

£66,000 - £72,000

Full time, Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days home)

London

There’s more to being a Manager than managing audits.

Crave variety? You’re already an experienced auditor with experience across a varied portfolio. You can manage engagements from planning through to completion, lead a team and build strong client relationships.

So, what would make you move?

Perhaps it’s a Manager role that gives you more than another portfolio to manage.

Picture yourself as part of an experienced Manager group, working closely with Partners and having the opportunity to contribute to the wider development of the Audit & Accounts team here at Goodman Jones.

That involvement can extend beyond your client portfolio. Depending on your interests, you could get involved in recruitment, training and developing our people, business development, improving how we work or wider departmental initiatives.

And when it comes to your own career, there is a defined pathway beyond Manager through Senior Manager, Director and ultimately Partner.

What you’ll get to do

Your client work will give you plenty of variety too.

You’ll take ownership of a commercially focused portfolio spanning UK owner-managed businesses, UK subsidiaries of international groups, entrepreneurial businesses and charity clients.

You’ll:

  • Lead and review audits from planning through to completion.
  • Review statutory accounts and associated corporation tax work.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients and become a key point of contact across your portfolio.
  • Work closely with our Corporate Tax and VAT specialists on matters requiring additional expertise.
  • Lead, coach and develop audit teams, from trainees through to qualified colleagues.
  • Manage engagement budgets, recovery, workflow and deadlines.
  • Contribute to planning, resourcing and the wider operational development of the Audit & Accounts team.
  • Shape your wider Manager role around your interests, with opportunities to get involved in recruitment, training, business development and wider firm initiatives.

You’ll have the autonomy expected at Manager level, with an experienced Manager group and accessible Partners around you.

Who will thrive in this role?

You’ll be ACA or ACCA qualified and currently working within audit in a UK accountancy practice.

You’ll already bring experience across a varied client portfolio, including commercial businesses and UK registered charities, and be comfortable managing engagements from planning through to completion.

You’ll also bring:

  • Experience leading, reviewing and developing audit teams.
  • Confidence reviewing statutory accounts and associated corporation tax computations.
  • Strong client relationship and communication skills.
  • An understanding of the Charities SORP and experience auditing charity clients.
  • Sound technical judgement and the confidence to know when Partner or specialist input is needed.
  • Experience managing budgets, recovery and competing deadlines.
  • An interest in developing yourself and contributing beyond your immediate client portfolio.

You might already be an Audit Manager looking for greater involvement in the wider business, or an experienced Assistant Manager with significant portfolio ownership who is ready to take that next step.
