Audit Manager - Charities & Not-for-Profits

You're already an experienced auditor with a strong track record working with charities. You understand the sector, enjoy the relationships you build with clients and know that charity audit brings its own technical challenges and its own sense of purpose.

You may already be working exclusively with charities and not-for-profit organisations, or they may form a significant part of your current portfolio. Either way, you know this is a sector you want to continue building your career in.

Charities are an established and important part of our work, and an area we're continuing to invest in and grow. This year, we've taken that commitment right through to the start of the career journey, with our first intake of ACA graduates choosing a training route that gives them dedicated experience working with charity clients.

We're now looking for an experienced Audit Manager to to take ownership of a 100% Charities & Not-for-Profit portfolio, spanning registered charities, membership organisations, community interest companies, community benefit societies and other social-purpose entities. You'll play an active part in the continued development of our people, expertise and presence in the sector.

What you'll get to do

You'll manage your own portfolio of Charities & Not-for-Profit clients", and stakeholders expanded from "finance teams, trustees and senior stakeholders" to "finance teams, trustees, boards and senior stakeholder

You'll also:

• Lead and review charity audits from planning through to completion.
• Review statutory accounts and associated corporation tax work.
• Oversee Independent Examinations and grant audits where required.
• Work with charities with trading subsidiaries and more complex structures.
• Work closely with our Corporate Tax and VAT specialists where clients need additional expertise.
• Lead, coach and develop audit teams, including supporting our developing charity-sector talent.
• Contribute to the continued growth, development and profile of our charity offering.

You'll have the autonomy expected at Manager level, alongside accessible Partners and specialist teams when you need additional expertise or support.

Who will thrive in this role?

You'll be ACA or ACCA qualified and currently working within audit in a UK accountancy practice.

Most importantly, you'll already have meaningful experience auditing UK registered charities, ideally alongside broader not-for-profit organisations. This isn't a role where you'll be learning charity audit from scratch.

You'll know your way around the Charities SORP, FRS 102 and UK auditing standards, and be comfortable managing charity audits from planning through to completion.

You'll also bring:

• Experience leading, reviewing and developing audit teams.
• Confidence building relationships with trustees, finance teams and senior stakeholders.
• Strong technical judgement and the confidence to know when specialist or Partner input is needed.
• Experience managing budgets, recovery and competing deadlines.
• An interest in how technology, automation and AI-enabled tools can improve audit quality and efficiency.

You might already be an Audit Manager looking for a firm where you can continue developing your charity specialism, or an experienced Assistant Manager with significant portfolio responsibility who is ready to step up.

• Salary: £66,000 – £72,000 per annum
• Hours: Full Time
• Location: Fitzrovia, London. Hybrid, 3 days in the office
• Contract: Permanent
